January 7, 2009- 1-3pm: Working with students with special education needs Note: meeting canceled due to inclement weather.
December 3, 2008- 1-3pm: Working with students with limited literacies. Ken Pransky, Curriculum and Instruction Consultant from the Center for English Language Education at HEC, will be our guest speaker. Ken will lead a discussion about issues that affect the reading performance of culturally and linguistically diverse learners and offer a different perspective on what causes some/many students to struggle with reading.

Oct 8, 2008: Massachusetts Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education initiative. Kathy Earley, from the MADESE’s Office of Language Acquisition and Academic Achievement [OLAAAA], will be our guest speaker. She will provide an overview of the document, Content-Based English as a Second Language: Curriculum Development Guidance. A ‘toolkit’ CD-rom containing templates and samples will be provided to participants.
